Cubs

Click here for our events calendar

Our cubs are an irrepressible, excited group of young people, aged roughly 8 to 10 1/2, who have very ambitious ideas about what they want to do. Cubs meet every Tuesday at Alveston Youth Centre from 6.30-8pm during term time.

The cubs programme is a step up from the programme offered at Beavers, with the cubs being given ample opportunity to have a say in the type of activities that form the programme, but with a greater level of learning and adventure than Beavers.

Cubs uniform consists of a Green sweater and an optional matching polo shirt, which can be purchased from Initially Yours or Scouts Shops.

New Cubs will be given badges to go on their uniform, and our group scarf and woggle when they are invested into Cubs. Cubs moving up from Beavers will already have these badges and their scarf. Other activity badges are awarded after the Cubs complete parts of our programme, and these all count towards further challenge awards.

Once your child has joined, we can send you a link to let you view the upcoming programme and your child's progress towards earning badges

Our group is based on equal involvement of everyone, so we have rules in place to make sure everybody feels safe, but it also means that if there are any extra considerations that need to be made for any young person, we are able to accommodate everyone who wants to be part of 2nd Alveston Scout Group.

If your child would like to come and join us - Please click here to download the forms for new starters. Please note that we are currently operating a short waiting list system, so it is well worth registering your interest early, especially for Beavers. We will contact you when there is a space for your child and will guide you through what will happen next. You can get in touch with us by emailing hello@2ndalvestonscouts.org.uk. Any completed forms can either be emailed back to us, or handed in to one of our leaders at one of our programmed sessions.

All of our Leaders are fully DBSd and have received training in child safeguarding and 1st aid. We also have regular parent helpers who assist with the running of sessions, who are also fully DBSd. If you would like to get involved as an adult we have lots of fun as grown ups too, please let us know. We are always happy to have more adults involved as the more of us there are, the greater variety of activities we can offer the young people.
